Oxford House White Oaks in Springfield, Illinois

About Oxford House White Oaks

Oxford House White Oaks is a peer-run sober living residence in Springfield, Illinois, offering long-term housing for adults recovering from substance use disorders.

The mission at White Oaks is to create a democratic, supportive home where residents take ownership of recovery, accountability, and daily life together in a stable, substance-free environment.

Sober Living & Relapse Prevention Housing

White Oaks provides residential sober living rather than formal clinical therapy. Adults 18 and older who are in recovery—regardless of legal history—can live in this substance-free home with no fixed length of stay, as long as they maintain sobriety and follow house rules.

There are no on-site counselors; instead, residents share duties, govern themselves and contribute equally toward rent and utilities through the Equal Expense Share model.

Daily life here centers on peer support and accountability. Members get involved in voting for house officers, holding each other to community standards, doing chores and engaging in work or volunteer activities.

Community Ownership & Peer Support Strength

Beyond maintaining abstinence, White Oaks emphasizes self-governance as a core pillar. House officers are elected, meaning residents steer the culture, daily operations and decision-making.

This democratic structure fosters ownership over the recovery process, building confidence and responsibility. Peer support also plays a big role. With shared living, mutual respect and accountability, individuals benefit from the experience and insights of others who’ve walked similar paths.
