Oxford House Garner in Garner, North Carolina
About Oxford House Garner
Oxford House Garner is a sober living facility located in Garner, North Carolina designed specifically for men who are in recovery from substance use disorders. Rather than providing clinical treatment like detox or therapy, this peer run home offers transitional housing and a drug free and alcohol free environment to support those stepping down from formal programs or reentering society.
The Oxford House Model of Self Run Housing
The house follows the Oxford House model, which is a democratic, self supporting sober living home focused on mutual accountability, to foster long term sobriety and personal responsibility. This particular home can house up to eight men.
While Oxford House Garner is not a clinical or medical treatment center, it functions as a sober living home where recovery begins or continues after formal treatment. Residents move in typically after completing detox, inpatient or outpatient treatment, or often after exiting correctional settings. We like that you can stay as long as you want if you’re following the house rules and keeping up with the house expenses and responsibilities.
Peer Support After Formal Treatment
The facility does not offer on site therapy, detox or structured clinical programs. Instead, residents are expected to engage with external recovery resources such as AA or NA meetings, and adhere to house rules that include a strict zero tolerance policy for substance use.
The house offers a peer governed living arrangement where responsibilities like chores, finances, and maintenance are shared. We appreciate that support here comes from fellow peers in recovery rather than paid clinical staff, creating a community atmosphere of trust, accountability and mutual encouragement.
