About Oxford House College

Oxford House College was a men’s sober living home located in Alton, Illinois. They provided a peer-led residential environment for those in recovery from substance use disorder. 

This facility offered long-term transitional housing and focused on a communal, self-supported model to maintain sobriety. The residence operated democratically and emphasized personal responsibility and a drug-free lifestyle.

A Structured Environment

The house managers enforced house rules through weekly meetings, shared responsibilities and a strict abstinence policy. Residents shared cooking, cleaning and bills in a communal residential house.

Clients were actively encouraged to participate in community AA or NA meetings. Residents were allowed to stay indefinitely as long as they followed house rules and met financial obligations.

Admissions Process

The first step toward residency involved contacting Oxford House College to express interest and schedule an interview with current members. Entry would be based on the interview and a vote of acceptance by current house members. E

Equal Expense Share (EES) covered rent and utilities, with no insurance billing or clinical fees. With the facility located in Alton, clients were only a half hour away from St. Louis, Missouri.
