Members live together, share household duties, pay equal shared expenses (EES), and maintain abstinence in a setting governed democratically by residents themselves.Residents self-regulate through daily routines, house and chapter meetings, and enforcement of house rules. 

The emphasis is on building structure, cultivating responsibility, and maintaining sobriety. Over time, participants gain habits of accountability, independence, and mutual support that help address underlying substance use behaviors.
